National Cheerleadig Competition NCR Qalifers 2013: FULL OF SURPRISES!

Last Sunday, February 3, 2013, the National Cheerleading Championship NCR College-Coed Qualifiers kicked-off once more at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall and was joined by 10 different teams who executed their routines amazingly (they are the City University of Pasay, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Philippine Normal University, Taguig City University, Universidad de Manila, Lyceum of the Philippines Manila, Far Eastern University, National University, Quezon City Polytechnic University and Central Colleges of the Philippines).

This year, the NCR Qualifiers really have some surprising twists. This year, NCC managed to get SMART and OISHI to be their sponsor. There were also some surprising appearances and missing appearances :) Two of the biggest teams (Ateneo de Manila and De la Salle namey) who competed last year at the NCR Qualifiers didn't showed up this time. But La Salle managed to have 2 representatives at the Groups Stunts category. Also on the said category, our defending champions CCP Bobcats showed up with a very good group stunts routine but sadly, they didn't got to justify it's complicated level which is why the La Salle's simple yet smooth routines won the category (but he Bobcats still ended up 3rd place from La Salle's 2 representatives). But only this year did the NCR have some representatives on this minor category and also on the partner stunts category, on which only 2 representatives competed (and both are from the City University of Pasay)

Meanwhile, the said surprising appearances were from the NCAA's 6-time champions, the ALTAS Perpsquad, and the QCPU Ligers (though they only ranked 7th). Well, QCPU's appearance is not that surprising for me, besides, their squad have really improved a lot and I must say I'm always impressed everytime they'll appear. What's really surprising for me is why did the ALTAS competed at the NCR Qualifiers? Besides, if ever they will win the NCAA Cheerleading Competition (and I doubt if they will not :) they will automatically have a slot at the NCC Finals. But whatever their reasons are, It's up to them. I still salute them for their forever fierceness and I still salute their forever genius coach, Madam Rhufa Rosario :) (and congratulations to them for winning 2nd place at the NCR Qualifiers.....i really want to see what will bring at the finals.....more surprises eh? :)

Now, one of the newest appearance at the NCR Qualifiers made by the NU Bulldogs was not a surprise for they have already hinted that they'll be joining this year. But what surprised the NCC fanatics is their homerun at the said event. They made a really big break this year and outrun all the NCC favorites even the defending champions. The bulldogs is really a big watch this year. But for the CCP Bobcats, our beloved defending champions, what awaits for them? Scream and shout from their avid fans are all over the Pinoy Cheerleader FB Page to show their support for the Bobcats, but no words are coming out from them yet. Maybe they will really bring on the fire when they show up at the finals, so let's just wait for now :)

Another big break this year is from the Taguig City University who finally made it through the finals this time. TCU's squad had really gotten stronger and bolder even. Before their NCC break, they have already proven their worth at the IDADAIT Cheerleading Competition where they brought home the gold!

On the other hand, one of the veteran competitor at the ncc, who every year ranks even higher at the finals, the UDM Merlions PEP Squad sadly didn't made it through this time. Though they'd brought to the cheer floor an amazing routine but didn't justified it that much, the Merlions are still roaring for their spot at the finals ;)  And I think even the other competitors on different qualifiers who didn't make it through would still aim for their spot at the finals. (Thanks for Smart's voting system).

Here's the complete list of the NCR teams who made it through the finals:

1 National University (Most cerative pyramid awardee)

2 Altas Perpsquad
3 CCP Bobcats (Most original routine and groups stunts category 3rd placer)
4 FEU (Best dancer awardee)
5 CUP (1st and 2nd placer at the partner stunts category)
6 TCU
