Niki Johnson, an artist in Milwaukee, created a portrait of our former Pope, Pope Benedict XVI, in response to what did the former Pope said back in 2009 that using condoms could increase the AIDS epidemic in Africa.
She called the portrait "Eggs Benedict". Which is made out of 17,000 non-lubricated colored condoms
She hopes that through this, she could take an aim at the church's stance on using condoms, and also to promote sexual diversity and a more open discussion about sexual health.
Niki took 270 hours to complete the whole project in 3 years! She estimated that she took half of the time opening the condoms and laying them down and the other half on threading the condoms through wire mesh. She finished her masterpiece in late 2012.

The portrait will be displayed starting on April 19 at the Portrait Society Gallery in Milwaukee. And on June 7 to July 28, more of Niki's artworks will be on a larger exhibit at the same gallery including this portrait.
